If the box is unchecked, content tagged with the "Sport" label or a child label ("Athletics", "Swimming", ...) will be visible in the content feed.

No

Step 3: Add search criteria

Click on  to add criteria :

This step allows you to add one or more criteria to the search.

A search criterion consists of :

  • a field
  • an operator (depending on the type of field selected)
  • a value (imposed or chosen by the visitor at the time of the search)

 Name

 Description

 the value

An input field, depending on the type of criterion, is located just after this field.

This field is used to enter the fixed value used to check the criterion.

Example below for a Date field:

a value entered by the visitor

When the search service is displayed, the user is prompted to enter a value.

This value, entered by the user, will be used to check the criterion.

a value entered by the visitor

This option is only available for certain field types.

When the search service is displayed, the user is prompted to enter one of several values from a list.

This list is defined when the search service is configured, in this field.

Example below for a Site field:

Criteria can be linked together using the operators AND, OR, )AND(, )OR(.

At the end of each criterion, the following buttons allow you to order them:

 Button

Description

 Deletes the associated criterion

Adds a criterion above this criterion

Moves the criterion below

Moves the criterion above

Under criteria, the following checkboxes are available:

 Name

 Description

Display number of results for listed criteria

When the box is checked, the criteria listed will display the number of results in brackets next to the choice to indicate to the visitor which choices are most commonly used.

Memorize values entered by visitors when they log on

When the box is checked, the criteria entered by a logged-in user will be saved in his account. The next time they visit, the fields will be pre-filled for them.

In the example below, 2 search criteria have been configured:

  • The first waits for the visitor to enter a text.

  • The second, on the other hand, is imposed on the visitor: only content labelled "News" will be displayed.

  • Finally, since the two criteria are linked by an "AND", both criteria must be met for the search to retrieve content.

Step 4: Configure results

Parameter

Description

Mandatory

Facet filters

This drop-down list lets you select the facets that will be displayed to visitors in a dedicated area, allowing them to refine their search results.

We recommend that you do not propose a criterion here that has already been requested from the visitor beforehand.

No

Suggested sorting

The sorting options are left to the visitor's choice.

No

Initial sorts

Initial sorts are the default sorts applied in the absence of any sort chosen by the visitor.

The sort order (ascending, descending) of a field can be changed by clicking on it (except in certain special cases, such as relevance).

If the 'Suggested sort' field is not empty, you can only choose an initial sort from among those suggested to the visitor.

The default initial sort is "Relevance".

Yes

Maximum number of results

Maximum number of results to display (broken down into pages if necessary)

Leave empty to send everything back

No

Number of results per page

Number of results to display on each result page.

Leave empty to load all results at once.

By default, this field is set to 10.

No

Reading rights

Select the reading rights verification mode to be used:

  • Precise verification

Rights are calculated according to the logged-in user, at the cost of a slower display.

  • Quick check

Rights are calculated in a unique way, regardless of the user connected: a user may therefore see fewer results than he is entitled to (but he will never see a result pointing to a resource he is not entitled to consult. This optimization is only possible if the service contains no criteria to be validated, no faceted filters and no sorting.

This is the default value.

  • No verification

No fee calculation is performed. (NOT RECOMMENDED)

A user may therefore see a result leading to a resource he or she is not authorized to consult.

Yes

Step 5: Service display

Overview

How you render the service depends on your graphic charter.

Here are a few examples of what can be achieved.

Example 1:

Search service configured for news content on the current site,

with a "Title or full text" criterion to be filled in by the visitor

Example 2:

Search service configured for all site content and project members

with 3 criteria to be filled in by the user Full text, Content type and Tags

Facets positioned on content type and labels
